L.I.Anatychuk, L.N.Vikhor. The Effect of Cascade Optimization of Material Parameters on the Efficiency of Cascade Cooling Thermopiles
The object of discussion is to analyse the growth of maximum cooling coefficient of N-cascade coolers due to the use of Bi-Te based materials of n- and p-types with the optimal doping for each cascade. Such analysis is carry out on the basis of optimal control theory methods which proved to be the efficient means of designing Peltier cascade coolers. The results of theoretical calculations are adequate for making the following conclusion. When designing Bi-Te based cascade low-temperature batteries materials must be used that are optimally doped for the temperature difference in the cooler. It is most advisable to use in each cascade its own optimally doped material, in as much as it results in a negligible growth of thermoelectric cooler coefficient.
G.N.Logvinov, Yu.G.Gurevich, O.Yu.Titov. Classification of Electronic Gas Nonequilibrium Character in the Monopolar Submicron Films in the External Electric and Thermal Fields
The up-to-date trend to miniaturization in microelectronics manifests itself mainly in the quantitative increase of various semiconductor devices in the volume unit. Under these conditions dimensions of the active element areas become of the same order with the characteristic diffusion lengths of current carriers. The respective thermal dimensional effects take place in the thermal conduction processes and thermoelectric phenomena. In contrast with the overheating in electric fields where non-equilibrium (overheating) is formed in every volume point, in the thermoelectric effects (neglecting thermoelectric overheating) the sample surface itself is "the non-equilibrium source of electron and phonon subsystems". The authors classified interesting from physical standpoints types of electron gas nonequilibrium states.
D.P.Belotsky, O.N.Manik. On the Relation of Electronic Properties and Structure of Melts to the Diagrams of State in Thermoelectric Materials. 2. Phase changes and electronic properties of melts
The phase changes in the binary systems of thermoelectric materials have been investigated in this paper. On the basis of experimental data and theoretical models a correlation of electronic properties of melts has been established that determines relation of synthesis conditions, composition and physico-chemical properties of materials under investigation. The results obtained facilitate considerably the solution of the problem of new materials and serve as the initial data for the controlled synthesis of thermoelectric materials with specified properties.
V.Ja.Mikhailovsky, L.T.Strutinskaya. Activity of Oxide Catalysts Used in Heat Sources for TEG
Processes of oxide catalysts change in the initial period of operation have studied. It is shown that the catalyst activity reduction changes the reaction stability conditions in the low thermal condition. Factors that have influence on this process include: state of the catalyst, reaction medium composition, qualitative and quantitative composition of the catalyst and stabilizing additions.
