I.V. Slipukhina, D.M. Bercha. Formation of the CdSb band spectrum in the vicinity of band gap in ab initio calculations. Journal of Thermoelectricity. 2004, No. 3. -
p.16-26.
First principles investigations of the band structure of anisotropic thermoelectric CdSb crystal in the main directions of Brillouin zone have been carried out. The main peculiarities of its band spectrum formation in the vicinity of band gap, predicted from the empty-lattice approximation, have been confirmed. The fact that the CdSb compound is not a layered one has been proved on the basis of elementary energy bands concept within the simplest empty-lattice approximation. This fact coincides well with predominantly covalent nature of chemical bonding in this crystal.

of Thermoelectricity. 2004, No. 3. - p.27-30.
Studies of Seebeck coefficient in heavily doped Si1-xGex (x = 0.01-0.05) whiskers were carried out in temperature range 4.2–300K at magntic field up to 14 T. Power dependency of Seebeck coefficient on magnetic field strength was observed, which indicates in existance of strong hole-phonon coupling in such crystals.
V.P. Mikhalchenko, V.V. Motskin. On elastic properties of fullerite Ñ60 f.c.c. phase. Journal of
Thermoelectricity. 2004, No. 3. - p.31-44.
Elastic constants Cijkl of high-temperature f.c.c. phase of monocrystalline fullerite C60 at Ò=300 K, determined by the authors from X-ray diffractometer data, compared to experimental acoustic and calculated data, have been analyzed from the microscopic and crystal physics standpoints. The contributions of translational and librational anharmonicity to deviation from the Cauchy relations comparable in their value to contribution due to noncentrality of molecular interaction have been evaluated. Besides, the measure of anharmonicity of lattice vibrations, thermal conductivity and hardness of fullerite have been evaluated that proved to differ about 4 orders of magnitude from diamond. Direction dependences of the Young's modulus Å and shear modulus G agree with the structure, however, the values E and G of polycrystalline fullerite calculated by Voigt-Reuss-Hill proved to be overrated by 30% as compared to the experiment. The relevance of further research into elastic properties of fullerites and fullerides.

p.45-51.
The paper provides the results of the investigations concerned with the effect of gallium doping upon the properties of À4Â6 and À2Â6 single crystal compounds grown from the vapor phase. It is specified that the key reason for dependence of the carrier concentaration behavior on near- intristic temperature is molecural injection of Ga2Te3 impurity. The prerequisite is solubility of Ga in the quantity of 2 Ga atoms for one metallic vacancy in the metallic sublattice as well as Te excess.

of Thermoelectricity. 2004, No. 3. - p.52-59.
In this paper X-ray topographic methods have been used to investigate structural perfection, presence of inclusions of other phases, mechanical stresses, density and topography of dislocations in CdSb crystals with different concentration of Ag, In and Òå impurities, and the limits of their hard solubility have been established. Highly doped ingots of various geometrical shape and dimensions were solved in pure CdSb to obtain single crystals with various content of impurities necessary for creating thermoelectric devices.

Thermoelectricity. 2004, No. 3. - p.64-67.
The behaviour of thermoelectric coolers with a different number of stages at kinematical excitation using electrohydrodynamic analogy method and Lagrange quadric equations has been studied. Analytical models for analysis of multi-stage thermoelectric cooler design using both methods are suggested. It is established that one-stage and four-stage thermoelectric coolers require vibroprotection at kinematical excitation, since they may resonate when excitation frequency approaches intrinsic frequency.
