L.T.Strutinskaya, V.Ya.Mikhailovsky. Investigation of the Possibility of Complete Methane Combustion in the Catalytic Heat Sources for Thermoelectric Generators
The possibility of using oxide (non-platinum) catalysts in the heat sources for thermoelectric generators with a separate methane and air feed has been investigated. The basic kinetic characteristics of a series of catalytic systems have been determined: oxides of metals of variable valence – a porous carrier. Starting and temperature characteristics of the resulting catalysts have been given as a  function of methane feed rate and catalyst layer thickness. Conditions for attaining maximum degree of methane conversion have been determined

J. G. Vian,  D. Astrain, M. Domiguez. Development of a  Thermosiphon  With Phase Change for the Dissipation of Heat From a Peltier Pellet
The reduction of a dissipater's thermal resistance in contact with a Peltier pellet's hot  side, has associated the COP increase of thermoelectric devices applied to refrigeration.  In this frame we have designed, built and optimised a thermosiphon with phase change, which allows to homogenise the heat flux from the Peltier pellet, along all the fin dissipater's base. By means of this we have succeeded in reducing in 26% the thermal resistance.
Several calculation methods have been used, such as: a computational fluid mechanics and heat transmission software (Fluent) and an analytical calculus model developed for the thermosiphon as a whole. Theoretical calculations have been combined with experimental optimization by building and testing six full prototypes .A computer-solved electric analogy model (AERO) developed, has allowed us to calculate the COP increment of thermoelectric refrigerators carrying such thermosiphon. Particularly an increase of 12 to  18% in the COP has been noticed.

L.I.Anatychuk, O.Ja.Luste. Peculiarities of Using Reliability Theory in Thermoelectricity
General problems of the methodology of using mathematical reliability theory of elements, devices and systems in thermoelectricity have been considered. By examples of concrete problems of thermoelectric devices and systems reliability, namely, the determination of minimum sample size for testing and building reliable complicated systems of unreliable components, the importance of refusal from traditional delusions in the use of mathematical methods of reliability theory has been indicated.
