1. Report on ITA activity over the period from September 12, 2002 to September 10, 2004

 

General Meeting listened to and discussed a report of ITA President L.Anatychuk on ITA activity and the work of its governing bodies over the period covered. General Meeting approved the work of ITA President and ITA Presidium.

 

2. Changes in ITA statute

 

General Meeting acknowledged it reasonable to elect ITA governing bodies once in four years. This provision was included into ITA statute.

 

3. Elections of ITA governing bodies

 

ITA governing bodies have been elected as follows:

As a result of competitive selection and secret vote ITA has elected the following honoured academicians:

5. Elections of ITA academicians

 

As a result of competitive selection and secret voting, ITA has elected the following ITA academicians:

1.   Doctor Lon Bell, Unites States of America,  BSST company.

2.   Doctor Sergei Filin, Ukraine, leading research assistant of Institute of Thermoelectricity.

3.   Doctor Zenon Gotra, Ukraine, head of department in National University “Lvivska Politekhnika".

6. Elections of ITA associate members

 

As a result of competitive selection and secret voting, General Meeting has elected the following ITA associate members:

1.   Anatoliy Anukhin, Ukraine, chief process engineer of MODUL scientific and production company.

2.   Jonas Gradauskas, Lithuania, senior researcher of Institute of Semiconductor Physics.

3.   Murad Mamedov, Turkmenistan, professor of Turkmen State University.

4.   Mikhail Fedorov, Russia, senior research assistant of Physics and Technical Institute.

By decision of ITA General Meeting, ITA Diplomas have been awarded to:

2.   Alexei Pustovalov, Russia for active work in the International Thermoelectric Academy.

8. Awarding ITA Honorary Golden Prizes

 

By decision of ITA General Meeting, ITA Honorary Golden Prizes have been awarded to:

In the nomination “For fundamental contribution to thermoelectricity development”

1.   J. Stockholm, Marvel thermoelectrics, France.

2.   P.Baranskiy, chief research assistant, Institute of Semiconductor Physics, National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine.

In the nomination “For technology and quality of thermoelectric products”

1.   Open joint-stock society scientific and production company KRYOTHERM, Russia.

2.   Limited liability company ALTEC, Ukraine.

 

9. On holding a regularly scheduled XII Forum on Thermoelectricity

 

It has been decided to hold a regularly scheduled XII Forum on Thermoelectricity from 19 through 22 September, 2006 in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. Arrival date  –September 18, 2006.

 

10. On the memorial plaque to Volta

It has been decided to apply to the respective municipal authorities of Italy on the installation of a memorial plaque in memory of discovery of thermoelectricity by Alessandro Volta.

 

11. On Ioffe museum

General Meeting was satisfied to note that owing to ITA initiative and solicitation, Ukrainian government adopted a decision to create a memorial museum of academician A.Ioffe in his home city of Romny, Ukraine, and give this museum the honorary status of “People’s Museum of Ukraine». A decision has been adopted to render all possible support to activity of A.Ioffe museum. It has been also decided to organize in 2005 the celebration of 125 anniversary of academician A.Ioffe.

 

12. Commemoration of eminent figures in science and technology, former members of the International Thermoelectric Academy

General Meeting honored the memory of ITA members that passed into eternity over the years of the Academy existence – ITA academicians  G.Ivanov, R.Skolozdra, N.Kolomoyets, ITA associate member I.Ishida.

It has been decided that from now on, in order to commemorate eminent figures in science and technology that were  members of the International Thermoelectric Academy, their memorial dates should be celebrated each decade.

It has been decided that “Journal of Thermoelectricity”, ITA WEB-site and other respected editions should publish materials on the life and activity of former ITA members, the reminiscences of contemporaries, materials on the priority of their discoveries and inventions, on the importance of their works for the progress in thermoelectricity.

 

13. On creating bibliographical reference book on thermoelectricity

It has been decided to compile full bibliographical reference book of publications on thermoelectricity from the date of its discovery by A.Volta in 1794 up to the present time.

 

14. Recommendations on the lines of thermoelectricity development

International Thermoelectric Academy on the basis of all-round discussions during XI Forum on Thermoelectricity of current state of research and development in thermoelectricity, and being guided  by primary requirements of practical applications of thermoelectricity, recommends the following relevant lines of research and development in thermoelectricity.

1.   Investigations to improve figure of merit, stability, producibility and cost reduction of traditional thermoelectric materials.

2.   Investigations and developments to improve the reliability of thermoelectric power converterscooling modules and electric energy generation.

3.   Investigations to create new industrial technologies of traditional thermoelectric modules.

4.   Investigations and developments of progressive methods for design of thermoelectric products.

5.   Systematic studies of rational thermoelectricity applications.

6.   Development of the use of low-grade heat for electric energy generation.

7.   Search for new physical principles of thermoelectric energy conversion.

8.   Justified search for and investigation of new thermoelectric materials

9.   Generalizations in microscopic theory of thermoelecricity.

10. Development of research on composite thermoelectric materials, including macro-, meso- and nano-structures of various dimensions.

11. Development of thermoelectricity application in space and special-purpose technique.

12. Ecological problems of thermoelectricity.
